Parrot Guardian was organized because of the growing number feathered friends needing new homes. Our focus includes identifying potential adoption homes and educating caregivers in proper parrot care. There are currently many feathered friends waiting to be adopted.

Parrot Guardian is dedicated to rescue, foster and adoption of surrendered or found parrots and other feathered friends. Each bird acquired by Parrot Guardian is examined by a Board Certified Avian Veterinarian, medically treated if necessary.

Not every home is suitable for the placement of companion parrots, some of which have suffered abuse and neglect, and careful consideration is given on a case-by-case basis to both the parrot in question and the prospective adoptive family during the application submission process. Parrot Guardian makes every attempt to ensure the well-being of the parrot being placed and to place the right parrot in the right home.

Applicants should be prepared to fill out appropriate paperwork, to submit to interviews and home visits by members of the Foster/Adoption Committee, to abide by all terms of foster or adoption agreements entered into with Parrot Guardian. Potential adopters must spend hands-on time with their potential adoption bird, under the supervision of Parrot Guardian personnel. A completed Adoption Application and a home visit are also required. Adoption fees are collected and used to offset medical expense and care of birds in the program.
